樹藝實驗林
修築一座城鎮,有沒有可能從一座花園開始。麻豆鎮已經有苗圃,但是這樣的苗圃供養的是他方,而不是自己的地方。我們在分工體系之下,成為專業的生產者,卻忽略土地的休生養息,原本都是自然的一部分,不斷的生產也耗盡土地的養分和資源。我們佔有了一個地方,為了生活所需改變地景,其解體與再造過程,就像是腦中不斷發生的遺忘和記憶,逐漸成為我們的風景美學,也形成一個地方的認同感。
非人類的世界(所謂的「自然」)也有緩慢和快速的不同更迭樣態。地景的演替時程則以年月為單位,環境中的先驅物種不斷的尋求自己的最佳生存狀態,在過程中也改變了環境,提供後來者較為穩定的棲息。人類自從發明了農耕作為文化的基礎,就開始了介入和擾動的時間藝術。森林學則透過保育的概念,在栽植和疏伐的過程中觸發生物群落的演替。如此觀點下的人類不再是單純的破壞者或是保護者,而是地景介質中的施為者,在失去伊甸園之後重新找回自己在自然中的角色。
苗圃成為一座城鎮綠色基盤的發想中心。除了植栽的繁殖、測試、種苗儲存,除了作為種植樹苗的地方之外,位於城市的中心的苗圃可以是研究、市民活動、以及教育的場所。實驗林作為綠色基盤,能夠形塑城市身份、馴化其氣候的栽植樹木,也是一種公共設施。在人類造成改變的高度衝擊區域,綠色基礎設施也能創造乾淨的水、乾淨的空氣、以及健康的生態機能。實驗林也是樹藝學的展演場所。樹藝學包括繁殖、移植、修剪、施肥、病蟲害防治、支撐、齲洞治療、辨識、診斷醫治樹木損傷與疾患、根據裝飾價值安排樹木、樹木移除。樹藝實驗林之價值與定位在於轉變參觀者對於風景、地方、景觀到植栽之間的定義。透過展現「雜草」或「雜木」,也就是除了一般人工培育作物之外,更透過自然在此地生長的其他植物,進而認識自己地方的風景美學,形成地方的認同感。
Arboricultural Experimental Forest
It is possible to build a town from a garden. There is already a nursery in the town of Madou, but such a nursery support other sites, not the town itself. Under the division of labor system, we become professional producers, but ignore the rest and living of the land. They were originally part of nature, and continuous production also depleted the nutrients and resources of the land. We occupy a place, change the landscape for the needs of life, and its disintegration and reconstruction process is like the constant forgetting and memory in the brain, gradually becoming our landscape aesthetics and forming a sense of local identity.
The non-human world (the so-called "nature") also has slow and fast different variations. The succession time of the landscape is based on the year and month. The pioneer species in the environment constantly seek their best living conditions, and also change the environment in the process, providing a more stable habitat for later generations. Since the invention of farming as the foundation of culture, mankind has begun the art of time of intervention and disturbance. Forest science triggers the succession of biomes in the process of planting and thinning through the concept of conservation. Human beings in this view are no longer simply destroyers or protectors, but the givers in the landscape medium, and regain their role in nature after losing the Garden of Eden.
The nursery became the center of the imagination of a town's green base. In addition to planting, testing, and seed storage, in addition to being a place for planting seedlings, the nursery at the center of the city can be a place for research, citizen activities, and education. As a green base, the experimental forest is a public facility that can shape urban identity and domesticated trees. Green infrastructure can also create clean water, clean air, and healthy ecological functions in areas of high impact that humans are causing. The experimental forest is also the venue for the exhibition of tree art. Tree science includes reproduction, transplantation, pruning, fertilization, pest control, support, cavities treatment, identification, diagnosis and treatment of tree damage and disease, arrangement of trees and trees according to decorative values.
The value and positioning of the tree art experiment forest is to change the definition of visitors from landscape, place, landscape to plant. Through the display of "weeds" or "miscellaneous woods", in addition to the general artificial cultivation of crops, and through other plants naturally grown here, and then to understand the local aesthetics of their place, forming a sense of local identity.
